From the Chapter President
Greetings to all our PMI-SWVA Members and Guests,
On behalf of the Board of Directors, welcome! We are delighted that you are reading this letter and visiting our website today. We sincerely hope that your 2015 has started off with energy and enthusiasm – it definitely has for your local PMI Chapter!
This year is already shaping up to be a busy one for our local PM community. We are welcoming eight new Board members who have hit the ground running in January. We retained seven of our highly experienced members to help guide and focus all that new energy! We are personally excited about working for all of you, our Chapter members, to help you prosper in your work, add to your already valuable knowledge, and enhance and grow our profession in Southwest Virginia.
With a sense of great optimism, we are planning programs, events, and opportunities for you in 2015 around several themes, including:
- Focus on Membership Value –Town hall meeting in January 2015, providing more ways for you to connect directly on Social Media, more accessible Board, Networking Opportunities
- Focus on Careers – Providing information that you can use on the job, or to kickstart your career in PM, including how to access new resources on ProjectManagement.com
- Focus on Operational Improvements – assuring that we have the best venues, speakers, and communication platforms we can provide, including planned Technology enhancements on this site and our Social Media sites
- Having Fun / Getting Involved – providing enjoyable opportunities for our members to connect, participate and get to know each other
These themes are the basis for the various projects we are working on for you. At the same time – we want to hear from you. Let us know some of your ideas for how we can help you in your work and profession. Stay in touch with us on Social Media:
I want to personally thank our Past President, Kirk Olinger, and all our 2014 Board of Directors for guiding us through a challenging year. Not only did they put on some top-notch events last year, but much of the positive momentum we are experiencing now is due to initiatives they started and we are building upon in 2015.
I consider a great privilege to serve you and the entire PM community this year! I hope that you will join us at meetings and events, and get involved in promoting the greatest profession in Southwest Virginia today!
