From the Chapter President
April 2013
Greetings to all of our PMI SWVA Chapter Members,
It is hard to believe we are already four months into 2013. The board has been extremely active this year, bringing value to our members. If you are an active member in the chapter, we hope you are seeing these changes and they are brining value to you. I would like to highlight some important work being done in the chapter.
Programs: The Programs Team has been working countless hours to secure speakers and plan a special spring/summer seminar with dinner following. Networking only events are also being planned. Chapter Meeting presentations are now available on our website for members.
Website Enhancements: The Technology Team continues to enhance our website. The content is now more accurate and provides additional resources for our members. Make sure to check out the Job Board, new job opportunities are always being posted.
Outreach: The Professional Development and Program Teams have been working hard with a local school system to “Take Project Management into the Schools.” The team is in final discussions and should have more information to provide to the membership mid-late summer.
Sponsorship: We are fortunate to have 3 yearly sponsors for our chapter this year. This will help us bring more events to our members and provide outreach in our community. Thank you to TEKsystems, APEX, and Advance Auto Parts.
Venue Changes: The venue changes to Hollins University and Liberty University have been successful. We are working to purchase chapter signage to help first time attendees find the exact locations.
Membership/Administration: We have officially launched automated PDU reporting. When you attend an event and hold a PMI credential, we submit the PDU on your behalf. No more waiting for an email with a paper copy.
I am extremely proud of what my fellow leaders are doing for our members. Our mission is “Fostering a community of Project Management excellence in Southwest Virginia”, and this is exactly what they are doing. I would also like to say thank you to all of you who support our chapter. It is your support that keeps us growing. Hope to see you at the next PMI SWVA Chapter Event.
Regards,
Heather Robertson
