Position | Term | Incumbent | Biographical Information | President | 2010 | Melissa Kidwell, PMP | Melissa is currently a Project Manager at Advance Auto Parts and earned her PMP in 2005. Previously, she was a Manager with BearingPoint, and spent 12 years in Federal consulting working on systems integration projects. She also served as President-Elect 2009, and VP Marketing & Communication in 2005 - 2006, and 2008. | President-Elect | 2010 | Eric Rothwell, PMP | Eric has a strong background in the information technology and management consulting industries. His recent experience at Virtual IT includes all project and program management aspects of a broad spectrum of government, energy, construction, medical, and technology industry projects. In addition, Eric has worked in a broad range of other technology-dependent industries, including U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) healthcare, utilities, state government and taxation, personnel training, career development, as well as Federal procurement and Federal grant management. Eric is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP®) through the Project Management Institute (PMI®), as well as a Microsoft® Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS®) in implementing Microsoft® Office SharePoint® Server (MOSS) 2007 and Windows® SharePoint® Services (WSS) 3.0. He also served as VP Programs 2009. | Immediate Past President | 2009 | Darryl Agee, PMP | Darryl Agee is an Application Analyst for Carilion Clinic, currently working on an enterprise electronic medical record (EMR) multi-year project. His project management experience began with a seven year Air Force career working on aircraft simulators and training systems. He then spent five years in Colorado working for the City of Aurora (a suburb of Denver) in city government. He and his family returned to Roanoke in 1998, where he worked for Aramark (Crest Uniforms) and Advance Auto Parts, in systems analysis and project management positions. He has been with Carilion for over two years and enjoys working on healthcare technology projects. Darryl became a PMP in January of 2006 and holds an MBA from Auburn University at Montgomery, MS in Computer Info Systems from the University of Phoenix, and BA in English from the Virginia Military Institute. His free time is currently spent coaching his three daughters in softball, basketball and soccer. He and his family of a wife, three daughters, three dogs, a cat and guinea pig live on lovely Bent Mountain. | VP-Programs | 2010 | Sue Stengel, PMP, C.P.M. | Sue is a Project Manager for AECOM, a multinational architecture and engineering company. Sue specializes in communications technology for the public safety market. She currently manages numerous projects including statewide frequency planning, dispatch center relocation and 800 MHz rebanding. Sue is also responsible for a mix of proprietary software and oversees its’ compliance with quality processes to maintain ISO 9001 certification. Sue began her career in Procurement and is a Certified Purchasing Manager, C.P.M., and is Certified in Integrated Resource Management, CIRM. She moved into project management in the 1990s and was certified as a PMP in May 2009. Sue received a BS degree and a MBA from Colorado State University. She is married to a project manager and is the proud parent of three Scottish Terriers. | VP-Professional Development | 2010-2011 | Avi Usgaonkar, PMP | Avi is currently employed by Harris Corporation, a premier provider of Land Mobile Radio systems for Law Enforcement and Public Safety. The Lynchburg location of Harris Corporation employs over 600 persons with an emphasis on product design & development, and system integration & testing. Avi holds a Masters degree in Business Administration (Finance) from Virginia Tech and a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bombay, India. He has over 20 years experience in project management and implementation of infrastructural engineering projects. Avi is multilingual and has over 10 years’ experience managing projects in an international environment. He has been a PMI member since December 2006 and earned his PMP certification in May 2009. Avi, his wife Veena and daughter Pooja have resided in Lynchburg since 1995. | VP-Membership | 2009 - 20010 | Mary Burkhammer | Mary has over 25 years experience in diverse manufacturing industries including manufacturing line and staff management, product line management and project management. She has successfully managed multi million dollar projects in the defense industry and global projects in new product development and IT over the last 20 years. She holds a BS from Purdue University, a MBA from the University of Minnesota and earned her PMP certification in June 2006. Mary moved to Martinsville in the fall of 2007 with her husband and is currently looking for employment. | VP-Finance | 2010 - 2011 | Irvin Childress, PMP | Irvin Childress is a 1985 graduate of Radford University with a degree in Computer Science and Business Marketing. Irvin has 7 years of Project Management experience and 20 years of IT experience. His professional experience includes Programmer Analyst, Senior Programmer Analyst, Team Leader, and Manager of Store Systems. Irvin received his PMP in December of 2004. Mike has over 25 years combined experience in academia and business relating to project based learning, information technology, project management, and the commercial arts. Currently, he is co-founder and Managing Director of Experi-ED Learning Concepts, specializing in linking business with education to provide enhanced learning opportunities to higher ed students through project-based learning. Concurrently, Mike is serving on a contract basis, part-time, as a Business Analyst for the County of Roanoke. He received his Associate’s degree at VWCC (Virginia Western Community College), a Bachelors of Science degree in Information Technology from Capella University, and is continuing his advanced studies toward his MBA at Capella University. Data Center manager for the past four years. PMP since 2005. Involved in project management for 10+ years including previous employment at Ericsson Inc. Born and raised in Lynchburg with BS Computer Science from Lynchburg College. Wife Cheryl, Daughter Katey, son Gavin. Sports enthusiast, enjoy spending time outdoors on the area bike trails, and grilling out. | Regional Director-Blacksburg | 2009-2010 | [Open] | | Regional Director- Tri-cities | 2010-2011 | Cynthia West | Cynthia is a Project Manager with the Information Technology Department at Eastman Chemical Company in Kingsport, Tennessee. She received her PMP in December, 2006. Her previous employers include Citibank, Scripps Networks (Home and Garden Television), and several consulting firms. Cynthia holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Computer and Information Sciences from East Tennessee State University (ETSU). She is currently pursuing her Master’s in Computer Science from ETSU. Her thesis is researching effective modifications to software requirements gathering and documentation so that the best software architecture might be selected for a software package. Cynthia’s hobbies include playing the violin/fiddle and Scottish Country Dancing. She has been married for 5 years to her wonderful husband Michael. |
