Participate in a Project Management Research Study
University PhD Dissertation on Knowledge Managment in Project Management
The study can be accessed December 1, 2008 until January 15, 2009, at https://www.pmkms.net/pmkm. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to explore the linkages between knowledge management (KM) and project management (PM). It is the first part of a two-part (2) study, the first part, is this online survey, the second part will include face-to-face/telephone interviews of participates randomly selected from Part I. This investigation intends to review the processes that organizations implement to share, transfer, and manage their PM knowledge thereby, examining if there are any linkages between PM organizational maturity and KM use and information systems implementation. It is postulated that as organizations mature both in business and in PM processes, they implement formal knowledge sharing, transfer, and management procedures, through the codification of Lessons Learned, Best Practices, and other knowledge management practices. Survey Details: Providing personal information is voluntary, however, to allow for your participation in the face-to-face/telephone interviews this information is requested. If you do not want to provide the information, the survey provides an opt-out so you can answer the survey anonymously. This Online Survey is divided into two sections in order for the randomization the demographic information of the respondents verses practical answers to PM and KM practice questions. The identifying information in the first section made up of four (4) questions allow for future contact in Part II of the study. The second portion of the study uses a different randomization process that creates record identifying information, thus, the two records, respondent identity token and survey answers tokens will have two different tokens. This will prevent the mapping of contact information to survey answers. The study is a blind study, however, if the respondents want to participate in the telephone interviews they will need to add their contact information or, if they want to be contact once the results are known, they will be asked for this information as well. The information is being collected in two different databases with randomized tokens; therefore, their contact information will not be associated with their responses to the Maturity Model and Knowledge Management responses. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me by email, telephone, or facsimile at the information below. Again, your aid in this study it is greatly appreciated.
