#1504 Morningside St, Roanoke; this is on the left corner of Miami and Morningside Event Date: Saturday, July 18th, 2009 at 8:00am
Bring your PM tools for a day of fun, hard work, and community! We need volunteers for our 2nd volunteer day with Habitat for Humanity of Roanoke Valley. No construction experience needed. Help us give back to the community we all love. Brian Clark, Project Manager for HFHRV, is looking forward to working with us again. This year we are needed at the Morningside St site where 4 houses are in various stages of completion. One will involve dry wall work, another will be setting roof trusses, and the other two are in wrap-up stages and need finishing work (touch-up painting, other small tasks). There is a variety of work that you will be able to choose from. Sign Up Here - enter your desired shirt size (L or XL) in the Special Instructions section We’ll start at 8am and plan to work until 2pm. Closed-toe shoes are a must. HFH will have gloves and other equipment, but people are welcome to bring their own tools, tool belts, and gloves. Snacks and bottled water will be provided. If you did not get your tshirt at the Tues chapter meeting, we will catch up with you at the job site. We have plenty of extra t-shirts, so if you have a neighbor or colleague with free time, bring them along! Directions from Elm Ave & I-581 bridge: Follow east on Bullet/Jamison to 13th street. Turn right onto 13th (south). Turn Right onto Tayloe (before ascending to the Roanoke river bridge). The street sign is on the opposite side of 13th street and easily missed, so look for the Lawson warehouses on the corner of Tayloe and 13th. Finally left onto Miami Street. House is #1504 Morningside; this is on the left corner of Miami and Morningside Did you know homeowners typically put between 12-18 months "sweat equity" with Habitat before they begin work on their new home?WIFIM: - Every volunteer will receive a PMISWVA - HFHRV logo t-shirt to wear on the work day.
- Volunteers will be entered into a raffle for a project management related book.
