September 2010 Chapter Meeting
Topic: PM Skills for Life!
Meeting will be in Lynchburg, VA!
Event Date: Tuesday, September 14th, 2010 at 6:30pm
Topic: Answering the Call for Real Life, Focused Project-Based Learning Now, more than ever, Project Management experience and certification is desired, valued, and even demanded by the marketplace in the US. “Out of 13 advertisements for project manager jobs posted on CIO.com and Dice.com, eight ads either require or prefer project management certification… and all eight ads were for mid-to-senior level IT project management positions that require anywhere from a minimum of five to 11 or more years of experience.” “PM Skills For Life” is a new program sponsored by the PMI-EF (Education Foundation) and in part locally by our PMI-SWVA Chapter and Experi-ED Learning Concepts to develop templates, tools, and programs that can be used by students and educators to make the educational experience more valuable, and adults to enhance their quality of life and increase their value to employers, civic groups, and as a volunteer. Come see and hear how “PM Skills For Life” is exposing students and adults to the concepts of project management and through this effort: demonstrate how project management concepts can be applied to better manage everyday challenges. allow a student to experience the completion of a successful project by using project management concepts and through this success, to see the value of project management. teach project management concepts and theories to help students and young adults become better prepared to enter the technological world of today and tomorrow. provide an early introduction to the field of project management and motivate some students to consider project management as a professional career.
