*** LEARN MORE ABOUT IMPORTANT MEETING CHANGES *** Logistics: Monthly meeting will be held at the Roanoke Higher Education Center. RHEC is located at 108 North Jefferson Street, next to the Hotel Roanoke. Meetings will return to the 6:30pm - 8pm time slot to allow for travel time. Registration will open at 6pm. The meeting begins at 6:30pm with a light dinner and networking. Chapter business meeting begins at 6:45 PM and the program runs from 7-8pm. Tricities Remote Telecast: will be held at Renaissance Center, 1200 East Center Street, Room 230, Kingsport, Tennessee. PMI-SWVA reserves the right to cancel this remote telecast. About our Speaker: Bill Hunter, Assistant Director for Communications for Roanoke County Bill Hunter has been with the County of Roanoke since November of 2003. He began as the IT Departments, Infrastructure Services Manager where he was responsible for the day-to-day operation of radio and microwave communications systems, the computer WAN and LAN, microcomputer and phone systems, and the Operations Center for the mainframe and in-house printing. Bill has been involved with many projects since his arrival: The Public Safety Center, Fleet Services Center, Fire Station 1, the Western Virginia Regional Jail, and the early planning for the Green Ridge Recreation Center, the South County Library and the new Digital Radio System. In 2009 Bill became the Assistant Director for Communications in the newly formed Communications and Information Technology Department. He is responsible for the 911 Emergency Communications Center and the radio & microwave communication systems. Currently he is working on the Roanoke County-Town of Vinton Emergency Communications Center Collocation project. Prior to coming to the County Bill was a Tactical Communications Officer for the US Customs Service operating in Tucson, Arizona. The bulk of his career was spent with the United States Air Force where he primarily did radio communications and information technology work, retiring after 20 years. Bill has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from St. Leo University and is a member of the Delta Epsilon Sigma National Honor Society.
