July 2010 Chapter Meeting
Reminder: Meeting is at Roanoke Higher Ed Center, downtown Roanoke Event Date: Tuesday, July 13th, 2010 at 6:30pm
Topic: Toastmasters and PMI – An Advantageous Partnership Communication isn’t optional and as a leader, effective communication is essential. Leadership is about the ability to motivate and inspire people to work together as a team, harnessing the power of the group. Unlike department managers, Project Managers not only have to lead a group, they have to lead a group of independent stakeholders with different objectives. The partnership between Toastmasters and PMI is an advantageous one. Toastmasters teaches both communication and leadership skills. It teaches you to speak like a leader. “Leaderspeak” can be the glue that binds the group together; it promotes teamwork, encourages excellence, and keeps everyone focused on what it takes to achieve a successful outcome.
