October 2012 Chapter Meeting

Logistics: Monthly meeting will be held at the Roanoke Higher Education Center, 108 North Jefferson Street, next to the Hotel Roanoke. Map of available parking and directions.
The meeting begins at 6:30pm with a light dinner and networking. Chapter business meeting begins at 6:45 PM and the program runs from 7-8pm.
About our Speaker:
Kirk earned a BS in Music Education from Shenandoah University in 1988 and moved to Germany in 1989. There he worked part-time teaching voice at the University of Bayreuth while also working on a second BS in Computer Science and Economics. After graduation he worked as a database programmer and network specialist serving clients in the "greater Bavaria area" of Sothern Germany. He moved back to the US in 1995 and in August of that same year landed in Roanoke to begin his career with Carilion Health System. He earned his MBA from Radford University in 2000 and became a manager in Carilion's IT department early in 2001.
Kirk served as a manager of various Clinical Applications and Support group departments for six years. In 2007 he was appointed Clinical Informaticist and Project Manager to Dr. Lee Tucker and Dr. Laszlo Tabar in the Carilion Breast Care Center. In 2008 Kirk became a certified Project Manager Professional (PMP) and returned to the Carilion IT department as a project manager. He is the sitting VP of administration for the local chapter of Project Managers Institute.
