Welcome to the Project Management Institute (PMI) Southwest Virginia Chapter.

This year, PMI Southwest Virginia (PMI SWVA) is celebrating our 16th year! PMI SWVA is recognized as the largest percent of credential holders in Region 5. Our chapter provides project management professionals/practitioners with training, professional development, and chapter events that are geared towards the advancement in project management.  Our mission statement and objectives are to foster a community of Project Management excellence in Southwest Virginia by help bring premier Project Management knowledge, skills, and resources to our region and our organization and to promote individual, organizational, and regional growth through professional development, training and education, certification, networking, cross-industry information sharing, best practices, partnerships, and workforce development.

Who is the PMI Southwest Virginia Chapter?

We like to call Southwest Virginia home. We are proud of our region and its many outstanding communities and organizations, as well as its abundant cultural and recreational opportunities.  We love working and living here.

In the early 2000's, as professional project managers, we grew increasingly frustrated that the nearest PMI chapters were too far away to be of any practical benefit. These chapters included:

• Central Virginia (Richmond)
• Washington, DC
• Metrolina (Charlotte)
• North Carolina's Piedmont Triad

With a lot of hard work and perseverance we obtained full chapter status in 2003. The chapter offers a variety of valuable services to the local community and promotes excellence in the project management profession and project management education throughout Southwest Virginia.
